Mercedes-AMG and sacai have launched a unique capsule collection that honours the fusion of their distinct yet complementary brand DNA. This first-ever collaboration between the Japanese fashion label, established by Chitose Abe in 1999 in Tokyo, and the luxury automobile brand offers a range of premium ready-to-wear essentials and accessories. Despite being an unexpected partnership, sacai and AMG share a common vision and spirit of innovation. This collaboration perfectly captures their hybrid DNA.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, aka Red Pig, inspired this collection, drawing from its remarkable success story at the 1971 24 Hours of Spa. Despite being an underdog, this luxury sedan amazed everyone by finishing second.
The collaboration between AMG and sacai reflects AMG's influence and sacai's unique design codes. Dynamic badges adorn blousons, t-shirts, tote bags, and a jumpsuit, offering a fresh take on fashion archetypes. Each garment and accessory carries intentional meaning. Additionally, sacai designed a bespoke wrap for the Mercedes-AMG GT, completing a creative interpretation of the Red Pig's design. This collaboration highlights sacai's craftsmanship and the abstracted, three-dimensional form of the Red Pig's motifs.
