The 18th edition of Design Miami has been taken place from 29th November until 4th December 2022 and we have been part of it. This year’s programme explored the theme of “The Golden Age: Looking to the Future”.

Audi invited us to experience and immerse into their first digital art work in collaboration with Argentinian digital artist and designer Andrés Reisinger.

For many years already, Audi has been supporting international design exhibitions and of this year is an exclusive partner of and an active exhibitor at Design Miami. The digital art piece by Andrés Reisinger is inspired by the design of the Audi grandsphere. At the booth, Audi has blended the digital and physical world. Behind the Audi grandsphere concept, an LED wall presented the digital art piece of Reisinger.

The Audi grandsphere concept

With the three concept cars, Audi skysphere, Audi grandsphere and Audi urbansphere, Audi shares the brand’s vision of what premium mobility looks like in the future. With this goal in mind, Audi is creating a vehicle experience that goes far beyond the purpose of merely spending time in a car to get from point A to point B.

The Audi grandsphere is a large four-seater sedan showcasing the brand’s ambition to define the future of progressive luxury. Autonomous driving and advances in digital technology enable new experiences for the user. With Level 4 of automated driving, it gives the user a new dimension of freedom, a spacious sphere of experience without a steering wheel, pedals, or displays. The interior design is kept minimal but offering the highest comfort acting like a mobile living room.

Andrés Reisinger, born in Argentina and currently residing in Barcelona, is one of the most sought-after digital artists of the 21st Century. By occupying and defining the fertile space between the digital and physical realms, he has forged a unique place in contemporary culture.

When the interior of the Audi grandsphere transforms into a spacious realm for drivers with no steering wheel, pedals or instruments, this is where Andrés Reisinger comes in with his digital art work for Audi. In this setting, the space, the architecture and the features are shaped by the driver’s need and desires and this is the personal sphere that Reisinger created in his artwork. He translated the immersive experiential world of the Audi grandsphere concept into his virtual world of architecture and colour. His aesthetic and design language perfectly fits Audi’s approach towards the future.

In the two-minute-long video a surreal environment thats transverses realism and fictional is being imagined. Immersing into Reisinger’s famous warm pink hue, the scene opens with the delicate, shimmering movement of water and its reflection in a circular mirror. The image then confuses spatial perspective and blurs the lines between interior and exterior, as in the Audi grandsphere concept. See his whole piece of art in the video below.

“The artwork is created to expand your lens, to expand your imagination, to think of something in a different way and a different perspective.” – Andrés Reisinger

We highly enjoyed being part of Design Miami and to experience live and in person Audi’s digital art piece. We cant’ wait to see Audi’s upcoming commitments in the world of design and art.
