Step into the future of the BMW brand with the highly anticipated BMW Vision Neue Klasse. At ellectric, we had an exclusive first look at this groundbreaking vehicle prior to its official launch at the IAA Mobility 2023.

Welcome to the future of the BMW brand: where electrification, digitalisation, and circularity unite to pave the way for innovation and sustainability. Get ready to embrace a new era of automotive excellence.

In short: the BMW Vision Neue Klasse features minimalist design with signature BMW elements like the kidney grille and the Hofmeister kink of the side window graphic. A next-generation iDrive digital user experience merges real and virtual worlds. Resource efficient production, secondary raw materials, and sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology minimise carbon footprint across the vehicle lifecycle.

“The BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines our ability to innovate in the core areas of electrification, digitalisation and circularity. In this way, we are always able to stay two steps ahead of the future: The Neue Klasse is already bringing the mobility of the next decade to the roads in 2025 – and leading BMW into a new era.” – Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

Now, let's take a deeper dive into the BMW Vision Neue Klasse and start with the design.

Exterior and interior design

With the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, BMW heralds an era of a new design language: clear, elegant and timeless. The new fully-electric vehicle architecture not only ushers in a new era of innovation but also paves the way for endless possibilities in interior design.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse features powerful wheel arches, a retracted greenhouse and a slanted “shark nose” front end. The vehicle body has strong indentations and large window areas for a new aesthetic. The luminous exterior paintwork in “Joyous bright” provides a friendly, future-oriented personality to the car, complemented by black side skirts and bumpers.

The brand's signature design elements such as the kidney grille and double headlights have been interpreted freshly to create an interaction area at the front end. Besides lighting effects create an intuitive interaction with the human when they approach the car. And rear lights feature 3D-printed light elements that create a unique impression of depth.

Step inside the BMW Vision Neue Klasse and you experience brightness and spaciousness. The vehicle offers a comfortable atmosphere with bright cord fabrics. Its light-coloured instrument panel supports the flattened steering wheel and Central Display for an ergonomic drive. A smartphone charging cradle and glassy selector lever create a modern touch of sophistication. The front seats are attached to the floor by a single bracket, which opens up more legroom at the rear compartment. Finally, its interior design is completely chrome and leather free, helping to optimise the production process carbon footprint.

User experience

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse has reduced analogue operating controls to a minimum and introduced human-car interaction through the BMW Panoramic Vision, Central Display, multifunction buttons on the steering wheel, and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistance. This moves the world one step closer to improved driver orientation. Through BMW Panoramic Vision and Head-Up Display, information is projected into the driver's line of sight at an ideal height and across the entire width of the windscreen.

In the next generation of BMW iDrive, both driver and front passenger can now interact with information displayed on BMW Panoramic Vision for a shared user experience.
Ambient lighting and graphic elements are choreographed with both displays to enrich the user experience and can be customised with ‘My Modes’. The new BMW iDrive is based on a highly integrated software architecture that consolidates data related to driving experience and infotainment for tailored interaction between human and vehicle.

Sustainability

The BMW Group is at the forefront of designing the future. Through constant innovation, they are driving sustainability to new heights. Embracing the circular economy is their key strategy to conserve resources and reduce carbon emissions.

The BMW Neue Klasse is manufactured at the new plant in Debrecen without the use of fossil fuels, increased use of raw and secondary materials that are produced with reduced CO2. The sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology ensures high energy efficiency with newly developed round battery cells, faster charging speed by up to 30%, and improved range by up to 30%. So the overall vehicle efficiency will be increased by up to 25%.

Summing it all up:
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse: a groundbreaking vehicle that represents the future sustainability of the BMW Group. It's not just a car; it's a symbol of the new era of individual mobility. Packed with cutting-edge technology, it offers immersive digital experiences while staying committed to long-term circularity.
At the heart of this transformation are three key pillars: electrification, digitalisation, and circularity. The BMW Group is actively shaping these elements to pave the way for future generations.
