MINI unveils first design highlights of the future model family
MINI has released the first four design features of its upcoming model line, giving us a glimpse into its new Charismatic Simplicity design concept. The teaser includes a look at the round OLED display, as well as the steering wheel, seats and rims of the new family. The British carmaker demonstrates how they can mix modern technology with classic brand values. All of this is being done with an emphasis on sustainability.
The new OLED central display
The most eye-catching element of the reduced interior is the circular central instrument display, a signature feature of MINI that will be reimagined as an OLED screen for the upcoming models. MINI is the world's first car company to offer a fully functional round touch display – 240 millimeters in diameter. Its stylish design and borderless look give it a luxurious look. With touchscreen control, it has enabled the creation of a brand new interface with minimalistic user controls, which also regulate entertainment and climate functions.

The new steering wheel and seats
Not only has the look of the central display being completely revamped, also the steering wheel. The standard version sports a two-spoke design, with an optional fabric finish for an extra sporty feel. MINI has something to impress even its most picky customers, offering a vast selection of materials and colors as well as a variety of original textile designs - including Vibrant Silver, which adds a shimmering metallic touch both on the exterior and interior.
The seats have been upgraded too, combining classic design elements like houndstooth with modern colour palettes. Laminated seat side panels show off attention to detail and create a warm ambiance in the vehicle. Armrests are integrated into the seats for the first time, adding to this homely environment.
The new rim design
The newly designed, light-alloy wheels also adhere to the new design style of MINI. The new wheels don't focus on the sculpturesque features of the spokes anymore, rather, it is their strong, contrasting colours that gives the illusion of size, emphasised by the outward-facing spokes. Its slightly condensed, two-dimensional wheel design improves aerodynamics and helps increase the range.
MINI is giving us a glimpse of what's in store with the introduction of these groundbreaking design elements. They blend together quality, sustainability, and minimalist recreations, while still holding onto the traditional MINI DNA.
