Ampere – empowering Renault Group's strategic transformation

The Renault Group has successfully achieved the initial goals of its 'Renaulution' plan, accomplishing the fastest turnaround in the automotive industry's recent history. The plan, announced in November 2022, aims to transform Renault Group into a Next Gen automotive company by focusing on five key businesses: electric vehicles, new mobility services, circular economy, high-end vehicles, and ICE & hybrid vehicles. Ampere, an autonomous company under Renault Group, plays a crucial role in this transformation by designing, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing electric passenger cars in Europe. The goal is for Ampere to become a leader in zero-emission and software development, with a double-digit market share and operating margin by 2031. With a lean and efficient structure, Ampere is data-driven, technology-focused, and benefits from strong assets and a highly experienced leadership team. The successful completion of the Ampere carve-out on November 1st, 2023, marks a significant milestone in Renault Group's transformation journey.

Renault Group, a leader in mid-size and compact cars, is well positioned to tap into the growing European EV market. With the aim of democratizing EVs in Europe, their brand, Ampere, plans to achieve price parity with traditional cars in the B and C segments. Ampere has already developed cost-effective EV platforms, and their roadmap includes further cost reductions in battery, e-powertrain, platform, and upper body costs. Through operational excellence, they also aim to reduce manufacturing and logistic costs. The recent introduction of the Scenic E-Tech, which achieves Total Cost of Ownership parity with hybrid vehicles, is a significant milestone. Ampere's plan is to reach EV/ICE price parity by 2027/2028 with the second generation of C-segment EVs. They will start with the Renault 5 and Renault 4 in the B-segment, followed by an affordable electric car priced below 20.000 €, which has just been unveiled as the Renault Twingo / Legend.

The "Legend" is a purpose-built urban vehicle that combines exceptional efficiency (10 kWh/100km) with significantly lower CO₂ emissions compared to average European ICE cars. With zero tailpipe emissions and a compact size, it minimises raw material consumption. Made in Europe, this car is priced below 20.000 € (before subsidies) – an affordable option for eco-conscious clients.
