Equality at General Motors - the first automotive manufacturer to have more women than men in power

Marry Barra, CEO of General Motors

The automotive industry is still characterised by an extremely high male quota. This male-dominated industry needs a facelif. General Motors thought the same and we think it's very progressive. Equality is very important for the company. GM is the first and still the only automaker worldwide with more women than men in power. They are experiencing a breakthrough - thanks to CEO Mary Barra. Now there are six women and five men on the Supervisory Board. Since Mary Barra started working for the Group, the company has been investing in gender equality. Among other things, GM introduced the Equal Pay Pledge - means that women and men receive the same wages for the same work. Chapeau! Under the leadership of Mary Barra, not only did equality prevail, but there was also more investment in future technology, such as e-mobility.

We are excited to see whether other automotive companies see GM as a role model and join them. In any case, we are very impressed by GM’s progressive thinking and acting and look forward to the coming development.
